About the Authors  
 
Ainul Jaria Maidin is a Law Professor researching in various aspects relating to real property law, good governance and sustainable development goals (SDGs) and alternative dispute resolution. Ainul obtained her LLB (Hons) and Master in Comparative Laws from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and her PhD in Land Development and Environmental Protection Law from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales, United Kingdom. She is also qualified as a Non-Practising Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. An accredited mediator (Accord Group Australia), she has written on the benefits of mediation in resolving disputes in land use planning. She has to her credit several textbooks relating to land tenure and town and country planning law: Malaysian Town and Country Planning Law and Procedure (Current law Journal, 2013), Malaysian Strata Titles Law and Procedure (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, 2009), Property Law (Wolters Kluwer, 2011), Principles of Malaysian Land Law (LexisNexis, 2008), and Annotated Statutes of Malaysia: National Land Code Penang and Malacca Titles Act 1963 (LexisNexis, 2015).  
 
At the national level, she has been a member of various committees relating to land, including the Advisory Panel of Institut Tanah dan Ukur Negara (INSTUN), the Advisory Board of Land Administration Journal (Journal Pentadbiran Tanah), Journal of Department of Director General of Land and Mines, Malaysia, the National Committee for Harmony, Ministry of Unity, Malaysia, the committee of the PersatuanPentadbir Tanah, Malaysia and an Associate Fellow of Institute Kajian Hartanah (MyREI-UTHM). She also served as a member of the International Expert Group endorsed by the Global Land Tenure Network (United Nations Shelter Branch) offering input in areas relating to land administration, Islamic land administration, sustainable land development and environmental planning law, and urban legislation.  
 
Sharifah Zubaidah Syed Abdul Kader obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (IIUM) in 1991, Master of Comparative Laws (IIUM) in 1994, and Doctor of Legal Science (SJD, Bond University, Australia) in 2002. She qualified as a Non-Practising Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. She is a professor at the Civil Law Department, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia, having served as an academic staff since 1994. She currently teaches Land Law to third year law students.  
 
She is also an Associate Editor of INSAF Journal of the Malaysian Bar. Sharifah was the Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws from 2008 to 2010 and the Director of the International Centre for Waqf Research (ICWR-IIUM) from 2014 to 2017. She has authored 21 journal articles and 15 chapters in books, also previously co-authored and edited four books, namely Land Use Planning and Environmental Sustainability (IIUM Press, 2006), Principles of Malaysian Land Law (LexisNexis, 2008), Student Guide on Equity and Equitable Remedies (LexisNexis, 2016), and Waqf in Selected Asian Countries (PNMB, 2019).
