About the Authors
 
Adnan Trakic
Dr Adnan Trakic is an Associate Professor and Head of the Business Law and Taxation Department at the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. He graduated with Bachelor of Laws (LL.B (Hons)), Master of Comparative Laws (MCL), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GCHE) from Monash University. He has taught and researched in the fields of business law, conventional and Islamic finance law, and dispute resolution. A co-author/editor of several books, his published work extends to many journal articles, book chapters, and other contributions.
 
Nagiah Ramasamy
Dr Nagiah Ramasamy was formerly an Associate Professor at Sunway University Business School and is now the Industrial Relations Advisor/Senior Researcher at the National Union of Bank Employees. He holds a PhD in Management (HRM) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has an MA (HRM) from the University of Humberside (UK), Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice from Lancaster University (UK) and a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from the University of Bolton (UK), among other qualifications. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Management Institute (UK) and the Higher Education Academy (UK).
 
In addition, he is an Exco member of the Malaysian Society for Labour and Social Security Law (MSLSSL) and the Director of Communications at the Social Protection Contributors’ Advisory Association Malaysia (SPCAAM).
 
Dr Nagiah has varied work experiences spanning more than 40 years, in manufacturing, academia and labour relations, both locally and overseas. In the field of education, he has been involved in teaching and educational management at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. With a strong research interest in the field of employment relations, he has presented papers and published a number of articles, books and book chapters.
 
Cheah You Sum
Dr Cheah You Sum is a Professor at the Sunway University Business School. He has many years of experience in the financial services industry, having worked at middle and senior management level at an established bank, and general and life insurance companies.
 
Dr Cheah is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute, UK. He attained his Bachelor of Laws from University of Wolverhampton, Master of Laws from City, University of London and Doctor of Philosophy in Law from the National University of Malaysia.
 
Dr Cheah’s experience in the education industry spans a period of fifteen years, and includes a long-standing association with the Malaysian Insurance Institute, the ASEAN Insurance Training Fund (AITF) programme and the Chartered Banker Institute, UK.
 
Paul Linus Andrews
Dr Paul Linus Andrews is the Associate Dean (International), at the Sunway University Business School and Head of the Centre for Commercial Law and Justice. His areas of interests are in fundamental liberties and the criminal justice system with a particular emphasis on the impact of the criminal justice system on children in Malaysia.
 
His publications as co-author include Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia on Administrative Law (LexisNexis, 2002), Equity and Trusts in Malaysia (Sweet & Maxwell, 2005), Law for Business (Sweet & Maxwell, 2018), Malaysia’s Tax System: Issues, Challenges and Future Direction  (Sunway University Press, 2019) and Vulnerable groups in Malaysia (De Gruyter, 2020).
 
Paul is a Member of the National Consumer Advisory Council 2022-2023 and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom. 
 
Sri Bala Murugan
Qualified in Law as well as Teaching and Learning, Mr Sri Bala Murugan’s pursuit for personal development has earned him a certification as a corporate trainer. He has trained executives, senior executives and directors in the area of contract law company law, and commercial for local and international companies. He has been teaching law for the over 20 years. He currently serves as a Business Law Module Leader at Sunway University.  His research primarily concerns the application of law in business and commerce. He has co-authored two books Law for Business (2018) and the Future of the Law of Contract (2020). He is currently pursuing his PhD in Management (focusing on Contract Law) at Sunway University, Malaysia. He also sits on the Executive Council as Co-Vice Chair (Strategic Planning & Membership Development) as well as a mentor with Future Labs.
 
P Vijayganesh
Vijayganesh is a lecturer at the Sunway University Business School. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, a Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Law from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, and a Master of Business Law from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He is currently a applying to do his PhD in Business at Sunway University Business School, Malaysia.
 
Vijayganesh has extensive experience in the education field through various institutions of higher learning in Malaysia, ranging from teaching at diploma to master’s degree level, administration of academic programmes and working with foreign university partners. A large part of that experience is in teaching Business Law, Company Law and International Trade Law. Vijayganesh is a member of the Corporate Law Teachers Association (CLTA). 
 
Kanchana Chandran
Kanchana Chandran holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of London and a Master of Laws from University of Malaya. She was admitted as an Utter Barrister of the Honourable Society of Inner Temple, London in July 2012, a Solicitor of England & Wales in February 2008 and an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in April 1997. She has been exposed to both disputed and undisputed areas of practice, which include among others negotiating sale and purchase agreements, tenancy agreements and terms of settlement. The disputed areas of practice range from banking litigation to premises claims and contract claims with a High Court trial experience as well as appearing before the Court of Appeal Malaysia (Appellate Jurisdiction).
 
She has also attended to legal documentations for conveyancing (sale and transfer or assignment of real properties) involving transactions with developers (development project) as well as sub-sale of such real properties; attended to security documentations (charge and assignment/equitable mortgage) in favour of banks and other institutional lenders. She has also handled matters relating to registration of trademarks; submitting legal arguments in response to objections raised by the Registrar of Trademarks in relation to the registration of a trademark as well as handled matters relating to wills and trusts.
 
At present, Kanchana is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Commercial Law and Justice (CCLJ), Sunway University Business School. Having had exposure in the commercial world, Kanchana has endeavoured to equip educators and practitioners with some of the latest legislative developments to business and commerce.
Kanchana earned a certification in Creativity, Innovation and Change from the Pennsylvania State University in 2016. Her area of interest is in Knowledge Management (KM) where she has co-authored numerous publications for international conferences and journals. In 2017, Kanchana earned her Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) certification from the KM Institute (USA).
