Cheah You Sum, LLB (Hons), MSc, DBA, LLM, PhD, is currently a Professor at the Centre for Commercial Law and Justice, Sunway Business School, Sunway University. He has many years of working experience in the financial services industry, which includes experience at an established bank as well as general and life insurance companies. Much of that experience is at the middle- to senior-management levels. He has gained overall exposure ranging from technical knowledge to business development, and as the Chief Executive Officer having the overall responsibility for the company’s bottom line performance. He has worked with and led teams from diverse backgrounds, religious beliefs, and cultures due to his experience with local companies, foreign-based companies, and foreign university partners. He is currently a Technical Committee Member of the Finance Accreditation Agency, which operates under the auspices of Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission. He is also serving as a member of the Academic Committee of the Malaysian Insurance Institute. He was the lead author of Malaysian Insurance Law since the First Edition in 2018, and Law For Business (First Edition published in 2014, Second Edition in 2018 and Third Edition in 2022) by Thomson Reuters.

 

Hasani Mohd Ali, LLB (Hons), LLM, PhD, is currently a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, whose faculty he joined in 1994 as a tutor and where he began teaching in 1996. He was Deputy Dean from 2012 until 2014 and reappointed in 2018 until 2019. Hasani teaches company law and related areas, including corporate governance, securities regulation, and insolvency. His research and writing focus on corporate governance and corporate responsibility consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He is a member of various committees at the Companies Commission of Malaysia, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Public Services Department of Malaysia. He is frequently invited as the keynote speaker and thesis examiner at various universities and research institutions in Malaysia and internationally, including Indonesia, the People’s Republic of China, Australia, and Japan. He was invited as a Visiting Professor for International Corporate Law and Practices at the Global Master Program (GMAP), Graduate School, Faculty of Law, Kobe University, for the 2016/2017 session. He is also a member of the panel of expert contributors to the Malaysian Legislation Series: The Annotated Malaysian Companies Act 2016, by Thomson Reuters, first edition published in 2017 and revised in 2020.
